Jammu and Kashmir government today said over 550 projects were on under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna (PMGSY) in Jammu region so far.
"552 projects are taken up under PMGSY in Jammu region, of which joint inspection on 356 have been conducted and 100 schemes have been accorded final award," officials said during a review meeting held here, presided over by minister for Roads and Buildings, Abdul Majid Wani.
While 49 schemes are underway in Kishtwar for which Rs 30.9 crore were released, 65 schemes were taken up in Doda and Rs 46.92 crore have been released, officials told Wani.

The minister urged authorities to expedite the process of assessing the quantum of land compensation under PMGSY and its disbursement among the owners and also asked for conducting joint inspection by PMGSY and revenue officials to assess the amount of compensation and its early submission so that they could be taken up with the Centre.
Wani emphasised that projects were pending due to non-payment of compensation in the state and warned officials concerned against laxity in this regard.
The minister expressed hope that Rs 710 crore released by the Centre under the programme would help in completion of PMGSY projects.
