Chief Minister Nitish Kumar took salute from women officers after they were inducted into the battalion during the passing out parade held at Gandhi Maidan here.
Addressing the function, Kumar said his government was taking all possible steps to stop atrocities against women.
The chief minister said more than one lakh girls have been imparted martial arts training for self-defence and his government taken initiatives to expedite action in cases of crime against women.
The women battalion received 14 months training in arms including handling SLR and hand grenades at Rohtas district.
There are 44 post graduates and 220 graduates in the battalion which staged passing out parade today. Each battalion has six companies.
Kumar said that his government was committed toward empowerment of women and referred to reservation of 50 per cent seats in local bodies, both rural and urban, in support of this.
