Over 6,000 cases were filed in Tamil Nadu for violation Election Commission guidelines during the 2011 Assembly polls and charge sheets were filed for most of them, Chief Electoral Officer Praveen Kumar said here today.
Replying to a query on the electoral violations by parties and individuals in the last Assembly elections in 2011, he said, of the 6,000 cases, over 300 of them involved bribery.
Since the bribery cases did not have enough evidence, charge sheets could not be filed in these cases, Kumar said.

"Apart from these 300 cases, charge sheets for the remaining cases were filed and now they are the court property," he said.
For a query on whether there was any punishment awarded, he said, "I only heard of imposing of fine and there was no jail.
