India's very own children's literature festival -- Bookaroo -- is back in town with over 60 award-winning writers, illustrators, poets and storytellers from across the globe.
In its 10th edition, the nine-city festival organised by the city-based Bookaroo Trust, will be held here on November 25-26 at Children's Park near India Gate.
However, celebrations have already begun with 10 walls around the city being painted with illustrations from children' s books, as part of Bookscapes, a wall art series.
Artists such as Priya Kuriyan, Ajanta Guhathakurta, Charbak Dipta have come together to paint walls of public spaces -- libraries, schools, a juvenile home and metro stations, to create visual stories that would become part of the larger narrative of the city's public art space.
This year, the festival will aslo see some additional interactive activities like a ski slalom, a story mountain, the original oranginus tragonus transmuter, an Indian beach and an upside down forest, two duelling illustrators competing in the 'Battle of the Brushes' and history in a bowl of paneer makhani.
Some of the Indian speakers will include Karthika Nair, Nandana Sen, and Roshni Vyam, who will pair up with French writers and illustrators, Joelle Jolivet, Kris Di Giacomo and Sampurna Chattarji to blend styles, cultures and worlds.
"Step into the Indian Jungle with wildlife conservationist Vivek Menon, discover amazing facts about the animal world with author Ranjit Lal, and never say no to history again as 'Champion of Champion' at BBC Mastermind India Archana Garodia Gupta," organisers said.
Storytelling will come alive as performers from Mexico, Portugal, Spain, Australia and India present stories with songs, guitar, viola, puppets, poems, beatboxing, mime and more.
The festival will also celebrate five decades of Amar Chitra Katha with myths, superheroes and a unique workshop to create a comics page in just 60 minutes.
The festival will come to a close on November 26.
