Over 65 lakh MT wheat arrives in Haryana

More than 65 lakh metric tonnes (MT) of wheat has arrived in various mandis of Haryana during the current procurement season, against over 58.74 lakh MT during the corresponding period last year.

The government agencies have procured 64.97 lakh MT of wheat whereas 2,813 MT of wheat have been purchased by traders, said a spokesman of the Food and Supplies Department.

He said HAFED has purchased the highest - 25.18 lakh MT of wheat - followed by over 18.01 lakh MT purchased by Food and Supplies Department.

Similarly, Agro Industries Corporation has purchased over 5.78 lakh MT, Haryana Warehousing Corporation (over 6.35 lakh MT), CONFED (over 1.63 lakh MT) and Food Corporation of India had procured over 8 lakh MT of wheat during the current procurement season so far.
 

He said district Sirsa is leading in the wheat arrival where over 9.64 lakh MT of wheat has arrived in the mandis, followed by Fatehabad with 7.10 lakh MT.

He said farmers have been asked to bring dry and properly cleaned wheat in the mandis so that they might not face any difficulty while selling their produce.
