A two hour drive against traffic violation at a three-odd kilometers stretch in north Delhi led to 701 prosecutions, impounding of 32 e-rickshaws and arrest of five persons for rash driving today.
Of the 701 prosections, as many as 563 were cases of riding without helmets and 44 cases of jumping red lights. In case of e-rickshaws, none of the 32 had valid registration numbers, said Special Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Muktesh Chander.
Also five motorists were arrested and their vehicles impounded under Section 279 (rash driving) of IPC, Chander said.

The drive - part of Operation Chakravyu by Delhi Traffic Police - was conducted today on the stretch between Azad Market Chowk and Roshanara Road intersection. The police collected around Rs 72,500 through chalaans issued in the two hour drive, Chander added.
The first exercise under the initiative was coducted on a Sunday (Nov 15) at a traffic intersection in Lutyens' Zone here and as many as 170 traffic violators were prosecuted.
