Over 71 lakh MT wheat arrives in Haryana mandis

More than 71.34 lakh metric tonnes of wheat has so far arrived in the mandis (wholesale markets) of Haryana, an official said today.

Out of the total wheat arrived, the five government procuring agencies have purchased 71.28 lakh metric tonnes and traders have purchased more than 6,012 metric tonnes of wheat at Minimum Support Price (MSP), the official informed.

The procurement process was running smoothly in the mandis and the figures are till yesterday, the spokesman of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department said here.

Giving details of the wheat procured by government agencies, he said that more than 17.61 lakh MT of wheat has been procured by Food and Supplies Department, whereas HAFED has purchased more than 25.54 lakh MT of wheat.
 

Food Corporation of India has purchased more than 8.41 lakh MT of wheat, Haryana Agro Industries Corporation has purchased more than 6.52 lakh MT, and 13.18 lakh MT of wheat has been procured by Haryana Warehousing Corporation, he said.

With 10.07 lakh MT, Sirsa district was leading in wheat arrivals.
