The 403 Pakistanis in Indian jails are among a total of 8,698 Pakistanis currently imprisoned for various offences in foreign countries.
The Senate or upper house of parliament was informed during question hour yesterday that 2,373 Pakistani were in Saudi Arabian jails, 1,334 in the United Arab Emirates, 1,416 in Britain and 99 in the US.
Other countries with sizeable numbers of Pakistanis in prison are Oman (357), Greece (319), Malaysia (202), Kuwait (314), South Africa (169), Hong Kong (150), China (264), Afghanistan (350), Thailand (90), Iran (79), France (75), Bahrain (53) and 26 each in Bangladesh and Canada.
