Over 83.25 lakh metric tonnes of wheat procured in Haryana

Of the 83,25,781 metric tonnes of wheat arrived in Haryana mandis till yesterday, 463 metric tonnes of wheat were purchased by the traders while remaining were procured by six government agencies, a spokesman of Haryana Food and Supplies Department said.

Nearly 23.16 lakh metric tonnes of wheat were purchased by Food and Supplies Department and over 29.75 lakh metric tonnes by HAFED.

The CONFED had so far purchased 5.10 lakh metric tonnes of wheat, Haryana Warehousing Corporation 7.88 lakh metric tonnes, Haryana Agro Industries Corporation 8.07 lakh metric tonnes while Food Corporation of India procured over 9.26 lakh metric tonnes of wheat.

 

Sirsa district procured maximum amount of wheat in the state by purchasing 10.03 lakh metric tonnes followed by Karnal which procured 8.87 lakh metric tonnes and Fatehabad which procured 7.80 lakh metric tonnes.

Meanwhile, the wheat procurement is on full swing in Punjab.

The state procurement agency PUNSUP is leading in wheat procurement by purchasing over 27.69 lakh metric tonnes of wheat, 22.61 per cent of the total procurement of the state, till May 12.

The Government agencies and private millers procured more than 122,49,982 tonnes of wheat till last evening, an official spokesman said here.
