Over 900 students from the country's top engineering institutes are battling out with their prototype racing cars to prove their technological prowess in the city.
The JK Tyre Formula Design Challenge (FDC), is one initiative which will witness 36 shortlisted teams, including from IIT Delhi, IIT Madras, BITS Pilani, participating in this five-day event, which began at Kari Motor Speedway here on January 20, a JK Tyre press release said today.
FDC 2015 is a unique platform brought alive to reward college students and feel the pulse of the future of product development in India, which gives budding engineers an intensive experience in designing, manufacturing and testing self-built prototypes in real-time conditions, it said.

Apart from the ultimate thrill to make a racing car, the winner stands a chance to assist the professional engineering teams at one of the several motor sport events organised by the title sponsors, JK Tyre.
With its roots in the 1980's, this is a major international design competition that comes to India after successful run across the world.
FDC 2015 will have experienced global experts from across Automotive Design, Manufacturing and Business fields to judge the prototypes by the students.
FDC 2015 is being organised by Delta Inc., which is run by B.Tech/ BE alumni from engineering colleges across India including the IITs.
After being shortlisted over the year, the final 36 teams underwent various static inspections and competitions in the Design, Business and Cost Events, the release said.
