Over 900 ITIs in Raj in last 4 years: min Jaswant Yadav

More than 900 government and private Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) were set up in Rajasthan in the last four years, Rajasthan Labour and Employment minister Jaswant Yadav said today.

Thirty-one new courses were introduced in 923 ITIs and the training capacity was increased from 1.91 lakh to 3.87 lakh in BJP's rule, Yadav said at a press conference here while listing out various "achievements" of the government in the last four years.

Yadav said the total number of ITIs imparting skill-based education to the youth stands at 1,936 in the state.

Out of them, 251 are run by the government, he added.
 

The Vasundhara Raje-led BJP government will complete its four years of rule in Rajasthan on December 13.

Yadav said under the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS), over 11,000 seats in 1,200 ITIs have been made available for the candidates.

Centres of excellence were set up at the government ITIs and a centre in collaboration with the Institute of Technical Education, Educational Services (ITEES), Singapore was established in Udaipur for providing training in the tourism sector, he said.

The minister said 898 skill, employment and entrepreneurship fairs were organised during the period, which, he said, benefitted 4.5 lakh youths.

Till date, 1,07,786 youths were provided Rs 86.81 crore as unemployment allowance under the Akshat Scheme, Yadav said.

He said 28 army recruitment rallies were organised by the employment department and 11,031 candidates were selected.

The minister said that 14.76 lakh labourers were registered in the construction sector in the last four years.

"2.25 lakh labourers were provided assistance under various schemes, including education and skill development, accidental, maternity and silicosis schemes, which cost nearly Rs 660 crore," Yadav said.

Talking about the Rajasthan Skill and Livelihood Development Corporation (RSLDC), he said the department has provided training to 2,13,563 people from December 2013 to November 2017.
