In a major haul, the East Singhbhum district police seized over a quintal of Ganja and arrested two persons carrying the narcotics from Bistupur here, a senior police officer today said.
Acting on a tip-off that a jeep carrying Ganja set out for its destination from Rairangpur in adjoining Mayurbhanj district of Odisha, a special police team led by Bistupur police station officer-in-charge, Jintendra Kumar launched a search operation at Kharkhai river bridge yesterday, said Senior Superintendent of Police, Amol V Homkar.
The police team intercepted the jeep and detected 105 kg of Ganja in 65 packets, which were being carried to Bhojpur in Bihar, Homkar told reporters.

Police have arrested the driver of the jeep, Md Firoz Khan and his assistant Lalbabu Kumar, both residents of Bhojpur district.
The accused persons told the police that the consignment was handed over to them by one Shankar Dada to carry it upto Naya Mode in Ramgarh district (Jharkhand), where another person was entrusted with the responsibility to deliver to one Upendra Pandey in Ara, Bhojpur district, Homkar said.
A police team has already left to for Bihar conduct raids and apprehend the culprits, Homkar said adding an inter-state gang have been operating the illegal narcotics business.
We are also investigation whether the gang has any local link here, he said.
Meanwhile, the police have lodged an FIR against the accused persons under section 20(B)(II)(C) and 22(c) of NDPS Act,1985.
The recovery was made four days after the district police seized 20 kg of Ganja being carried from Odisha to Bhojpur district by a man, who was arrested.
