Over Rs 3.5 lakh fake currency found in bank

Fake India currency notes having face value worth Rs 3,72,510 was found at a branch of a private bank here, police said.

A case has been registered against unidentified people.

HDFC Bank officials informed the police that fake currency of a face value worth Rs 3,72,510 was found at one of its branches in the Vijay Nagar area, the Choti Gwaltoli police station's sub-inspector said today.

1,019 notes of fake currency were found in denominations of Rs 20, Rs 50, Rs 100, Rs 500 and Rs 1,000, the officer said, adding the notes were prepared so neatly that they appeared genuine.
 

A case has been registered against unidentified people, based on an HDFC official's complaint.

The police suspect that an organised racket involved in circulating fake currency could be involved.
