Over Rs 8,000 cr allocated to implementing flagship programme

The ruling AIADMK has allocated over Rs 8,000 crore so far towards implementing its flagship programme of providing mixers, grinders and fans free of cost to 1.85 crore families, reaching 1.30 crore beneficiaries since 2011.

A state government release here said that Rs 8,667 crore has been allocated so far since 2011, when Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa had directed that 1.85 crore families possessing ration card be covered under this scheme.

Information and Special Programmes Implementation Minister K T Rajenthra Balaji today reviewed the progress of the scheme, and directed officials that there should not be any delay in distribution of the mixers, grinders and fans, the release said.
