A group of armed miscreants today looted over Rs eight lakh from a nationalised bank branch under Rehala police station in Palamau district.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Hiralal Ravi said three masked men entered Ketat branch of the bank with arms during transaction hours and looted over Rs 8.54 lakh.

The looters have also robbed around Rs 25,000 from customers, who were in the bank at the time of the incident.

A child was suffered injuries after he was hit by the butt of a pistol by a looter as his mother resisted the dacoits.

The looters who had removed CCTV cameras, fled after committing the crime.
