All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi has been denied permission to hold a public meeting by the district authorities here.

The Hyderabad MP was supposed to attend a meeting organised by the district unit of AIMIM at Kothi Meena Bazar ground here on March 29.

ADM (City) Rajesh Srivastav said since final examinations were going on in several schools, it was not possible to allow the public meeting.

In the last few days, several right-wing groups like Bajrang Dal, VHP and Hindu Jagran Manch had submitted memorandums to the district authorities urging them to deny permission to the Hyderabad MP as his speech could vitiate peaceful atmosphere in the city.

Earlier on March 11, Owaisi, whose party is trying to make inroads in Uttar Pradesh, was denied permission for a rally in Allahabad.
