Owner kills tenant over petty issue

A 25-year-old man was stabbed to death allegedly by his house owner over a minor issue here, police said today.

Thane Police PRO Gajanan Kabdule said Aahut Yadav lived in a chawl in Rabodi and was asked by the owner to vacate the place, which Yadav was delaying.

Last night, the owner's son Satya Bahadur Singh alias Bandu Singh, visited the victim and picked up a quarrel with him over vacating the room and in a fit of rage allegedly attacked him with a knife, severely injuring the tenant.

Yadav was rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to his wounds, the officer said.
 

A case has been lodged under IPC section 302 (murder) based on the complaint filed by younger brother of the victim, who also lived in the chawl room.

The accused is still at large and hunt is on to nab him, police said.
