Owners of the power loom job working units in the district withdrew their one-week old relay hunger strike today, following an agreement reached over payment of wages.
The owners and workers of the units were on an indefinite strike from April two demanding payment of full wages as agreed to by textile manufacturers, in 2014.
As the talks convened by District Collector T N Hariharan remained inconclusive on April 17, the power loom owners announced a relay hunger strike from then, even as collector posted the talks for today.

Hariharan cautioned that stringent action would be taken against those who pay lesser wages in future, following which talks remained fruitful and the strike was withdrawn, Coimbatore district Power Loom Owners' Association President, M C R Palanisamy said.
The date of resumption of operation of power loom units will be decided tomorrow after convening a general body meeting, he said.
