P Barkos Oflyn Warjri, a 1978 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, took over as the chief secretary and state vigilance commissioner of Meghalaya, succeeding W M S Pariat.
Pariat was one of the longest-serving chief secretaries in Meghalaya, who was in office since October 10, 2009.
A resident of Shillong, Warjri graduated from St Edmund's College, Shillong in 1976, and went on to study International Studies at the Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.

He joined the civil service in 1978 where he was allotted the Manipur-Tripura cadre and served there until 2008 and joined the North Eastern Council in the capacity of a director.
On taking charge, Warjri highlighted the key issues - law and order problem in the Garo Hills region and solving the long inter-state boundary problems with Assam - as his priorities.
