Senior party leader P S Sreedharan Pillai today began his second innings as BJP Kerala unit president.

Pillai took over as state chief after the post fell vacant following the incumbent Kummanam Rajasekharan being appointed as Mizoram Governor in May last.

Pillai was the state party president between 2003 and 2006.

Addressing party workers, Pillai said his objective was to strengthen the party and ensure good performance in the coming Lok Sabha polls and form an NDA government in the state in 2021.

The NDA in the state also would be expanded, he added.

Party leaders O Rajagopal, MLA, Shobha Surendran, K Surendran, M T Ramesh and A N Radhakrishnan were among those present.

BJP sources said an NDA delegation led by Pillai would visit rain ravaged areas of Kuttanad in Alappuzha district.

The party would co-operate with all to ensure that sufficient assistance was secured from the Centre to resolve the problems of Kuttanad, a BJP release said.
