Aircraft engine maker Pratt & Whitney's India Managing Director Palash Roy Chowdhury has put in his papers.

P&W, part of US-based United Technologies (UTC), is a leading supplier of engines to the country's largest airline IndiGo.

Chowdhury has been associated with UTC for 18 years and has decided to pursue opportunities outside of P&W, the engine maker said in a statement on Wednesday.

For the last eight years, he served as the MD of P&W India.

"I am now looking forward to pursuing some personal and entrepreneurial interests that I have nurtured for sometime," Chowdhury said in a statement.

India became the fastest growing aviation market globally and the company is well-poised for a strong period of growth, he added.
