Paani Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation which works in the area of water conservation, has said it won't seek government funds for its work.
"There is no proposal whatsoever on the part of the Government of Maharashtra to provide any financial assistance to Paani Foundation, nor has Paani Foundation applied for the same," Satyajit Bhatkal, CEO of the Foundation, said today.
"Paani Foundation has not taken, nor does it plan to seek, any funding whatsoever from the government," he said.
The Foundation was set up in 2016 by the team of TV series "Satyamev Jayate" to fight drought in rural Maharashtra.
Referring to a media report that Maharashtra Government has sanctioned Rs 88 crore aid to the Foundation, Bhatkal said, "The GR (Government Resolution) enables Gram Panchayats to apply to the government for funds for doing watershed management work as per the rules of the government.
"In cases where these funds will be sanctioned, the funds will go directly from the government to the concerned Gram Panchayat and Paani Foundation is in no way concerned with the same," Bhatkal said.
