Paarth braves injury to enter 2nd round

Top seed Paarth Ambani of Maharashtra braved injury to take down his unseeded state-mate Prakash Aujhi in the opening round of U15 category ofWestern Slam (Junior) squash tournament, here on Thursday.

Paarth won 11-1, 11-3, 11-7 to advance to the second round at the Bombay Gymkhana.

Despite being at a slight disadvantage, due to a fracture in hand, Paarth made short work of the unseeded Prakash.

In another match, unseeded Abhinav Mehta of Maharashtra fought hard to overcome Aryaman Roy of Delhi, who is seeded in the [17/32] category.

Abhinav won 9-11, 11-9 , 11-3 , 11-2, and 11-5.

In the Boys U-17 Category, It was a day of upsets with as many as 4 unseeded players rallying to beat their higher-ranked opponents and carve a place in the 2nd round.

 

Aryan Lunkad of Maharashtra dominated his statemate Krushna Darvada who is seeded [17/32] 11-9, 11-7, 11-4 while Vishnu Darvada and Arjun Shigavan fought hard to defeat Aditya Raj and Siddharth to advance to the 2nd round.
