Manoj Patel, a member of Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) which is heading the Patel community's agitation for reservations, today moved the Gujarat High Court seeking return of an effigy of Ravana confiscated by the police in Mehsana district.
Advocate B M Mangukia, Patel's lawyer, argued before Justice J B Pardiwala that the police didn't give permission to the local Patel youths in Vijapura town of Mehsana to burn Ravana yesterday on the occasion of Dussehra.
"They even took the effigy of Ravana... Please give it back... Ask them (police) to return my Ravana," Mangukia said.

Mangukia said the effigy had fire crackers inside which may be used by BJP people.
The judge then said on a lighter note to the public prosecutor Mitesh Amin, "Please...At least return their Ravana."
The judge then adjourned the hearing to next week.
Yesterday, Mehsana police had lodged an FIR against some Patel youths for trying to burn effigy of Ravana without police's permission.
Police had said they suspected that the event would be turned into a protest over the quota issue.
