The ashram still has not chosen its head following the death of its spiritual leader Baba Jai Gurudev, who died in May after prolonged illness.

In a meeting recently there was a division between two groups over who will lead the ashram next.

"There have been reports of minor clashes and therefore we have have deployed PAC personnel to prevent any untoward incident," Police Circle Officer Vanshraj Yadav said.

The personnel have also been deployed to ensure that the upcoming annual community meal hosted by the ashram is held peacefully, he said.

Meanwhile, state Public Works Department minister Shivpal Singh Yadav has said that the government will come forward if any trouble befalls on the ashram.

Baba Jai Gurudev died at the age of 116 at his ashram on May 18. Gurudev was considered a cult figure among peasants and farmers in north India.
