Facing allegations of sexual harassment, Rajendra K Pachauri, today resigned as Chairman of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), whose meeting here he has skipped.
Pachauri has been accused by a woman employee of TERI, which he heads, of sexual harassment. Pachauri has denied the accusations. His decision to quit was made public by the IPCC at its ongoing 3-day 41st Session from today.
The bureau of the UN's IPCC agreed Tuesday to designate Vice-Chair Ismail El Gizouli as acting chair.
