PADC demand supported by MLAs and ministers

Supporting the demand for creation of Patkai Autonomous District Council (PADC) in Arunachal Pradesh, MLAs and ministers it would improve the the lot of the people of backward Tirap, Changlang and Longding districts.

If the Centre granted PADC it would generate employment oppurtunities of the people whose economic condition would improve, the ministers and MLAs said in a meeting yesterday at Deomali, an official release said here.

Civil Supplies Minster Komlung Mossang sought the support of the youth, NGOs and common people to ensure the fulfillment of the demand at the earliest.

The demand for PADC was within the framework of the Constitution and there was absolutely no scope for dividing the people along ethnic lines, the meeting felt.
 

Wangling Lowangdong (MLA), who is the spokesperson of the PADC Demand Committee, said the PADC Bill has already been passed unanimously by the assembly and Chief Minister Nabam Tuki had recommended it to the Centre, the release said.
