Paddy arrival continues in Haryana

More than 47.37 lakh metric tonnes (MT) of paddy have arrived in the mandis of Haryana so far in the current Kharif season.

During the same period last year, 33.27 lakh MT paddy had arrived in the mandis.

Of the total arrival, more than 42.09 lakh MT paddy was leviable and 5.27 lakh MT paddy was non-leviable, a spokesman of the Food and Supplies Department said here today.

While government procurement agencies have purchased more than 39.90 lakh MT paddy, millers and dealers have purchased 7.46 lakh MT paddy.

Karnal received the maximum amount of paddy at 9.99 lakh MT, he added.
 

Of the total arrival, more than 9.84 lakh MT paddy has arrived in Kurukshetra, 6.36 lakh MT in Ambala, 5.82 lakh MT in Kaithal, 4.15 lakh MT in Fatehabad, 4.17 lakh MT in Yamunanagar, 1.08 lakh MT in Sonipat, 1.19 lakh MT in Panchkula, 1.43 lakh MT in Sirsa.

Besides, over 1.55 lakh MT paddy has arrived in Jind, 32,145 MT in Hisar, 17,536 MT in Faridabad, 1.01 lakh MT in Palwal, 10,702 MT in Rohtak, 3,313 MT in Gurgaon, 3,114 MT in Mewat and 6,056 MT in Jhajjar.

The Food and Supplies Department has purchased more than 18.24 lakh MT of paddy, more than 14.16 lakh MT by Hafed, 4.17 lakh MT by the Haryana Agro-industries Corporation and 3.32 lakh MT by the Haryana Warehousing Corporation.

The spokesman said that farmers have been advised to clean and dry their harvest properly before bringing them to the market so that they do not have to face any problems in storage due to high moisture content.
