Haryana Agriculture Department today destroyed paddy cultivated on two acres of land by a farmer in Kurukshetra district for violating the provisions of Haryana Preservation of Subsoil Water Act, 2009.
Besides, paddy nursery on another two acres of land was destroyed by spraying weedicide.
Under the Haryana Preservation of Subsoil Water Act, 2009, paddy nursery could not be sown before May 15, and it could not be planted before June 15 in the n official spokesman said here.

There is provision for charging Rs 10,000 per month per hectare as fine from a farmer, if found guilty, he said.
Also, there is a provision for charging the cost of destroying sown and planted paddy from the guilty farmer. If found guilty for the first time, one faces temporary disconnecting of power and permanent disconnecting if found guilty a second time, he added.
The spokesman said that the department had constituted teams in different areas of the district and special campaigns were being run.
The Department has also urged the farmers to respect the Haryana Preservation of Subsoil Water Act, 2009, he added.
