Nearly 1.4 lakh tonnes of paddy has been procured so far in Haryana, as against 63,862 tonnes arrival in the corresponding period last year.
While stating this here today, a spokesman of the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department said that out of the total arrival, 1,37,672 tonnes of paddy was leviable.
While the government procurement agencies have purchased 1,35,307 tonnes of paddy, millers and dealers have purchased 4,208 tonnes.
Referring to arrival of paddy in the mandis of different districts, he said that so far, 76,536 tonnes of paddy has arrived in Kurukshetra, 26,232 tonnes in Kaithal, 17,623 tonnes in Ambala, 11,813 tonnes in Karnal, 7,079 tonnes in Yamunanagar and 232 tonnes paddy has arrived in Panchkula.
He said that out of the total arrival, 78,980 tonnes of paddy has been purchased by Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, 34,697 tonnes by HAFED, 17,634 tonnes by the Haryana Agro-industries Corporation and 3,996 tonnes has been purchased by the Haryana Warehousing Corporation.
He said that farmers have been advised to clean and dry their produce properly before bringing it to the market so that they do not have to face any problem.
