Rashtriya Lokdal workers today staged a protest outside the office of police commissioner here against the Uttar Pradesh government's alleged apathy towards the procurement of paddy and demanded an inquiry into the matter.

The protesters submitted a memorandum, addressed to the Governor, to the police commissioner.

The protesters led by West UP RLD incharge Raj Kumar Sangwan, alleged that it is because of the government's apathy that farmers are reeling under debt and have to sell their crops to the agents at cheap prices.

"The farmers have not been able to get even the basic price of the crops," Sangwan added.

He demanded investigation into the matter and compensation to the farmers for the losses.
