Two youths who tried to protest during a show of Bollywood film 'Padmaavat' at a screening hall here were arrested, police said.

The movie was screened at United Talkies here after a late night decision taken in this regard, officials said. The screening was held amid heavy police security, they added.

Two youths, who tried to protest during the second show of the movie, were arrested, the police officials said.

In the first show, very few people watched the movie, but the numbers increased in the other shows, they said.

Circle Officer, Cant, Abhishek Singh said, "All over it is peaceful. Heavy police force has been deployed at the cinema hall. Two youths raised slogans against the screening of the movie were arrested."

All other cinema halls and multiplexes here refused to screen the movie but United Talkies at Cinema Road took the decision late last night to screen the movie.

"We took the decision to screen the movie quite late so very less people came to know about it and the number of movie watchers was comparatively low. But the information spread, the number of ticket sold increased," manager of United Talkies Narendra Kumar Tiwari said.

In the first show, only 88 tickets were sold and in the second show the number increased to 300 and in the third show it was around 400, he said.

We faced no problem as police was very alert, he said.

On the screening of movie Sandeep Singh a local Kshatriya leader, said they were against the screening of the movie but could not disturb law and order in the city - the home turf of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

"Two of our members, Vikas Singh and Sooraj Shah, tried to raise slogans against the screening but the police arrested them. From tomorrow we will stage a sit-in demonstration with black strips on our mouths and our protest will be non- violent," he said.
