Pak air force jet crashes

A fighter jet of the Pakistan Air Force crashed near the Mastung area in the troubled southwestern Balochistan province today.

A PAF spokesperson at the Samungli Airbase in Quetta said that the fighter jet was on a routine training operation when its engine caught fire and it crashed near Mastung.

The pilot ejected from the plane safely while no loss of life was reported in the incident, he said.

He said that PAF headquarters has ordered an inquiry to investigate the possible cause of the crash. The wreckage of the plane has also been taken into custody.
