An Afghan national has been arrested by police in Pakistan for his alleged involvement in the attack on an air force base last week that left 42 people dead, as authorities said the mastermind of the deadly assult was from Afghanistan.
Police raided a house in Pladherai village of Charsadda district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and arrested the man from a rented house, a police official said.
"He has been shifted to a secret location for questioning," he said.

Meanwhile, Interior minister Nisar Ali Khan told reporters that the mastermind of the attack had been identified and he belongs to Afghanistan. He refused to give further details.
Khan also said that five of the attackers were Pakistanis. Rest of them were not identified as yet. He said they could be foreigners.
Three of those identified belong to Khyber tribal district and two are from Swat district.
Police in a search operation also arrested at least 28 suspects from the suburbs of Badaber but so far none of them has been charged for involvement in the attack.
Pakistan yesterday said it will share crucial evidence of involvement of Afghanistan-based Taliban militants in the deadly terror attack on its air force base but decided against lodging a strong protest.
