Pakistani noted educationist and economist S Akbar Zaidi today advocated for resumption of cricket between India and Pakistan saying if cricket starts between the two countries "other things will work out automatically."

"Pakistan government has been showing interest for quite some time. But, I think the BCCI has been reluctant to play for political reasons. If cricket starts, other things will work out automatically," Zaidi said at the Bengal Chamber here.

The ICC tournaments and the Asia Cup remain the only events where India and Pakistan face each other now.

Union Sports minister Vijay Goel had earlier said that the government would not give permission for any bilateral cricket match between India and Pakistan till there is cross-border terrorism.

The Pakistan Cricket Board has already sent a legal notice to BCCI claiming damages for not honouring an agreement that provided five bilateral series between 2015-23.
