Pak man gets 38-year jail for throwing acid on wife

A Pakistani anti-terrorism court has sentenced a man to 38 years in jail and slapped a fine of Rs 1.7 million for throwing acid on his wife.

The court in Faisalabad district sentenced Arshad Aslam for throwing acid on his wife, as he suspected that she had relations with his friend.

Anti-Terrorism Court Faisalabad Judge Ishtiaq Ahmed announced the verdict yesterday sentencing Aslam to 38 years in jail and imposing a fine of Rs 1.7 million.

The victim suffered critical burn injuries.

There has been a rise in the acid attack incidents on women in Punjab province.
