Pak national acts in ad film in Kochi violating visa rules

Muhammed Junaid Khan arrived on a tourist visa at Kochi on June 28 and returned to Mumbai on June 30 after the shoot, Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan told the Assembly in response to a submission made by CPI-M Deputy Leader in the House Kodiyeri Balakrishnan.

Khan had acted in an advertisement film shot at the 'Thejomayi Building' at the Info Park in alleged violation of visa rules and steps were taken to put him among blacklisted pesons, the minister said.

Infopark houses around 80 units of global and national IT majors including Wipro, TCS and Cognizant.

A case has been registered against one Kunjuabdulla, Khan's sponsor, and also the co-ordinator of the film unit, Krishnakumar.

 

Police have started investigation and the government viewed the incident "very seriously," Radhakrishnan said.

Balakrishnan wanted to know from the government how the incident took in a high security zone.

No one has been taken into custody in the incident where a person from Karachi came to Kochi and returned back after acting in an advertisement film, Balakrishnan said.
