Pakistani police today claimed to have arrested the killers of a family of five members, days after the shocking incident sparked by a family feud took place in the country's restive northwest tribal region.
The assailants had barged into a house in Chamkani area on the outskirts of Peshawar on Tuesday and opened indiscriminate firing, killing five family members, including two women and as many children.
Senior Superintendent of Police operations Peshawar Javed Iqbal told reporters here that main accused Junaid and Amir, brother and brother in law of slain Yahya Khan, were arrested on the outskirts of Peshawar.
The accused have confessed to the crime before a police investigation team, he said, adding that weapons used in the killing have also been seized from the accused duo.
A dispute over land and some domestic matters were apparently the main reasons behind the merciless killing of the entire family, the officer said.
The police were also trying to track down whereabouts of Junaid's two sister who are missing after the incident, he added.
On March 20, uncle of Khan had lodged an FIR in Chamkani police station.
