Pak tribal leader killed in IED blast in Bajaur Agency

A member of the pro-government local peace committee was today killed in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast in the restive tribal reason of northwest Pakistan, officials said.

Abdur Rehman, a member of the pro-government local peace committee, was travelling in the Bajaur Agency, bordering Afghanistan when his vehicle was hit by an IED planted on the roadsaide in Mamond Gat area, they said.

Rehman died on the spot after his vehicle was destroyed in the blast, they said, adding that security forces have sealed the area and launched a search operation.

Last week, a pro-government tribal leader was killed in an IED blast in Nawagai sub division of the Bajaur agency.
 

No one has claimed the responsibility for the blast.
