Pak violates ceasefire thrice in J&K, BSF jawan injured

Fires on forward posts along the Indo-Pak border in Jammu and Poonch

Pakistani troops today violated the ceasefire thrice by firing on forward posts along the Indo-Pak border in Jammu and Poonch districts, leaving a BSF jawan injured.

"There was sudden unprovoked burst of fire from Pakistan side in forward areas along the International Border (IB) in Hiranagar sector around 1120 hours", a BSF officer said.

In the firing, BSF constable A K Rabha, who was posted along the IB was injured, the officer said.

"BSF troops immediately retaliated to the firing which continued upto 1130 hours", he said, adding that the firing has now stopped and the injured jawan has been taken to Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital.
 
Earlier, Pakistani troops fired upon forward posts along the LoC with automatic weapons and Rocket Propelled Grenades (RPGs) in Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch district at 0005 hours, PRO Defence Lt Col Manish Mehta said.

The firing continued till 0030 hours, he said adding there was no loss of life or injury to anyone in the cross-border firing.

Pakistani troops again resorted to firing by automatic weapons and RPGs for a brief period around 0600 hours, he said.
