Pakistan Army Chief General Raheel Sharif visited the Siachen Glacier today and spent time with troops at the world's highest battlefield.

General Sharif, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), spoke to the soldiers there and appreciated their high morale despite the most challenging environment and an extremely harsh weather, the military spokesman said.

"COAS advised all troops to remain focused on their professional obligations and training for an effective response to any emerging challenge," he said.

Siachen is considered as the most challenging battlefield where armies of India and Pakistan are locked in a standoff since 1984.

More soldiers have been killed due to harsh weather than actual fighting.
