A Pakistan International Airlines Airbus A310-300 flight bound for Lahore was forced to turn back to Kuala Lumpur International Airport after a minor technical problem, reports said today.

The flight PK889 had just reached cruise level when the crew requested to return to Kuala Lumpur yesterday, the Star newspaper reported quoting aviation officials.

It said the plane landed safely on the runway about 65 minutes after departure.

The airline confirmed a technical malfunction during the flight but said no engine fire had occurred as reported by a Pakistani TV station.
