Expressing grief over the deadly Taliban attack on an army-run school here, Pakistan Hindu Council today appealed to the government to ensure peace in the country and launch an effective military operation against terrorists.

The council at a meeting condemned the Peshawar attack that killed 148 people, mostly children, in strong words and paid tributes to the innocent lives by observing a one-minute silence.

The council in its statement termed the grief of the families of those killed in the tragic incident as a 'Joint Pain of whole Pakistani Nation'.

Patron-in-chief Ramesh Kumar Vankwani expressed solidarity with the Pakistani security forces in their fight against terrorism.

At least 148 people were killed, most of them children, when Taliban militants stormed Army Public School here on Tuesday firing indiscriminately on students from point blank range.
