Pakistani national held with Indian currency in Bangladesh

A 35-year-old Pakistani citizen was arrested today in Bangladesh for allegedly carrying Indian currency worth Rs 50 lakh.

Customs officials arrested Abdur Rahim at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital early today.

Rahim came to Bangladesh from Qatar via Dubai a week ago, Ishrat Jahan Ruma, assistant commissioner of customs was quoted by The Daily Star as saying.

He went the airport late last night to receive his luggage, the official sad.

On his suspicious movement, the customs official stopped Rahim when he was crossing the green channel of the airport along with his luggage.

Later, he was arrested along with the rupees stashed in his luggage.
 

However, it was not immediately clear whether the banknotes were fake or real and whether the man holding a Pakistani passport was a member of a racket.
