Pakistani youth held for trespassing ransacks Bhuj office

An 18-year-old Pakistani national, who was brought to Joint Interrogation Centre (JIC) in Bhuj for questioning in a trespassing case, allegedly damaged the office property here today, police said.

The accused has been booked under Damage to Public Property Act.

According to the police, Babul Shamalda belongs to Pakistan and was caught when he was found to be staying in India illegally. He had been brought to JIC for interrogation in the case.

"He was brought to JIC today. He went to answer nature's call. From there, he jumped into the computer room and destroyed computers and photocopying machines kept in the room. Initial estimates put the property damaged at Rs 26,000," a Bhuj police official told PTI.
 

Police Sub Inspector K H Baloch said Babul was brought from Banaskantha district some days ago and booked under Section 452 of the IPC for (trespass, alter, preparations for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint) and Damage to Public Property Act.

Baloch said he has been kept at the JIC where he will be grilled thoroughly to establish the motive behind his act.
