Similarly, Al-Hindi and Al-Hindiyeh are quite well known family names that seems to indicate an India connect given that it is called Al-Hind in the Arab world.
The Representative Office of India in Ramallah, paying tribute to the shared cultural heritage, invited Palestinians with these names as a special gesture to the event to celebrate India's 71st Independence Day, drawing unprecedented response.
More than 200 people attended the ceremony to mark India's Independence Day.
Palestine's Minister of Justice, Dr Ali Abu Diak, representing President Mahmoud Abbas was the Chief Guest for the event.
India has enhanced its scope of the ongoing skill development assistance programme for Palestinians by enlarging the number of training slots for Palestinian nationals from 100 to 150.
New Delhi has already executed several projects in Palestine, including opening of secondary school for girls in the West Bank, and has recently committed to establishing a Palestine-India Techno park during the last visit of Abbas to India in May, 2017.
