Palghar clerk held for accepting Rs 40,000 in bribe

A senior clerk attached to Vasai Panchayat Samiti office in Palghar district was arrested by Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for allegedly demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 40,000 from a school teacher here today.

"The accused Sunil Jadhav (46) demanded the illegal gratification from the complainant, working as a teacher with a Zilla Parishad school, who had sought transfer on medical grounds," said Additional SP, ACB (Thane Range) Srinivas Ghatge.

He said after the complainant approached ACB, a trap was laid in the ZP office and trapped Jadhav when he was accepting money at around 5 PM.

An offence under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the clerk with the Thane Nagar police station.
