Palghar likely to get three new police stations

Palghar Superintendent of Police Suvez Haque today said the district is likely to have three new police station in Tulinj, Achole and Pelhar areas.

In a review meeting held here with official of the police department and municipal corporation, Haque took a stock of various issues pertaining in the Vasai division.

Officials in the meet discussed that there is a need of more number of police stations in the Nalla Sopara region in order to maintain the law and order system. It was proposed that new police station be set up in Tulinj, Achole and Pelhar areas, an official press release said.
 

The SP said that the issue has been discussed and once the land is identified for the new police stations, further process will start, it said.

Currently, the district has a total of 22 police stations with six in Vasai, five in Palghar, three in Boisar, three in Dahanu and five in Jawhar.

Other issues like installation of CCTVs, improving signalling system, zebra crossing, parking for auto rickshaws, pay and park, removal of encroachments etc were also discussed during the meet.

A senior official of the Nalla Sopara police station said that the current population covered by the Nalla Sopara police station is around 7 lakh, which was nearly 5 lakh in 2011.

Virar-Vasai Municipal Corporation Commissioner Govind Rathod was also present in the meeting.
