Inquiry Commissioner and Special Judge (Vigilance) V Bhaskaran ordered issue of warrant against Sivaramakrishnan, Director of P & E Private Limited and seventh accused in the case relating to alleged irregularities in import of 15,000 tones of palmolein from the company in 1991-92 by the K Karunakaran-led UDF Government.

The Judge said he was ordering issue of warrant as Sivaramakrishnan had never appeared in the court in spite of several summons to him.

Another director of the company, V Sadasivan submitted through his counsel that he was sick and unable to attend the court proceedings.

The Judge was considering the discharge petitions filed by former food and civil supplies Minister, T H Musthaffa, former chief Secretary S Padmakumar, former additional Chief Secretary Sachariah Mathew and former managing director of the Kerala State Civil Supplies Corporation Jiji Thomson.

The petitioners contended that since Chief Minister and then Finance Minister Oommen Chandy had been discharged in the case, similar relief should be extended to them also.

The judge posted the case to November 7 for further hearing.
