To counter Congress' claims about the Land Acquisition Bill being 'anti-farmer', Gujarat government has decided to distribute pamphlets among masses during public functions, officials said.

A four-page pamphlet, depicting positive aspects of the proposed bill, has been prepared by the state government.

The pamphlets will be distributed during the two-day long programme planned by the Anandiben Patel-led Gujarat government to commemorate the completion of her one year in office on May 22.

The title of this pamphlet is 'Don't get misled by false propaganda..Truth is..That the bill is in the interest of farmers'.

The cover page of the pamphlet carries a photo of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on top while Patel's photo is at the bottom.

In the pamphlet, Patel has urged farmers not to get carried away by 'false propaganda' about the bill.

It states, "the Bill is in the interest of farmers. It will not only speed up development but also reduce poverty and provide employment opportunities to them when industries will be set up on the land given by them".

It further claims that bill does not propose to reduce the amount of compensation given to farmers.

"In addition, the amount of compensation will be four times more than the market value of acquired land. This bill makes farmers a partner in the development process," reads the pamphlet.

"This bill is not at all meant for forceful land acquisition. If a farmer feels that his land is acquired wrongfully, then the bill provides for ample provisions and remedial measures for the farmer to get justice," it further reads.

"Corporates need to take consent of at least 80 per cent of land owers before acquiring land. It is also made mandatory for companies to conduct Social Impact Assessment before acquiring the land," it states.
